We Did Not Invade the CDHR Office – Lagos Police Command

The Lagos State Police Command has denied that its officers invaded the office of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) in Ikeja, Lagos.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer for the Lagos Police Command, stated this on Saturday via his X Twitter.
In a statement issued on Friday, CDHR National President Debo Adeniran and National Publicity Secretary Idris Olayinka stated police had laid siege to their headquarters.

According to the statement, the siege constituted a grave breach of the rights to peaceful assembly and free speech.

Hundeyin, on the other hand, stated that police officers were stationed near the CDHR office but did not enter the premises.

He stated that the cops did not disturb the human rights organization’s seminar in the office.
The police were positioned around the venue, but they did not invade it or prevent anyone from entering. The symposium was held without interruption and with adequate security supplied by the police and other security authorities.

“We have seen images from the CDHR of police personnel meters away from the structure, but we have yet to see any evidence of an invasion or blockage.

There was no invasion! “We even provided security for their procession from Adeniyi Jones to Alausa,” the statement said.
