Spyro Reveals Why His Father Refused to Pay His School Fees

Popular Nigerian singer Oluwasanmi David Oludipe, well known as Spyro, has disclosed that his father stopped paying his school expenses because he received poor results.
He added that his father was a strict disciplinarian who stopped funding his tuition because he was not performing well in school.
The singer revealed this in an interview with Chude Jideonwo.

Speaking on his relationship with his father, a pastor, the ‘Only Fine Girl’ singer revealed that his mother took on the burden and battled to get him through school.

The 33-year-old musician admitted, “I felt like my dad hated me,” which had an impact on their relationship.

“When I was younger, I wasn’t performing well in school, and my father pulled back and stopped paying my school expenses.

“My mother took responsibility and sent me to secondary school and university. I observed her strain to achieve these things; it was not easy for her.
My father was only trying to be a disciplinarian, I suppose. He was like, “If you’re not getting good grades, I’m going to stop paying, and I won’t keep investing in you.”

“Now, I don’t blame him.” However, it impacted my relationship with him as I grew up. It felt like my father despised me.

“I would even question my mother if she was certain that he was my father.

He was simply arrogant. I believe it was because he is a preacher, and you know how pastors interact with their children,” he remarked.
