South Africa’s Springboks are looking to win the Rugby Championship

South Africa, which has won two World Cups since its previous Rugby Championship victory in 2019, is set to meet Australia on Saturday in Brisbane in a highly anticipated tournament.

The Springboks will be trying to win another title in a competition that New Zealand has dominated in recent seasons.

“We can’t just look to the future without thinking about the present,” said Rassie Erasmus, South Africa’s rugby director, emphasizing the necessity of striking a balance between veterans and young talent. “It’s about giving youngsters an opportunity, while capitalising on the experience of established players,” he told me.

The Springboks, who defeated Ireland in the mid-year tests before barely losing in the second match, appear ready to prove their spot as world number one.

For the match against Australia, Erasmus has elected to play 22-year-old fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, demonstrating his faith in the next generation

On the other hand, Australia, led by Joe Schmidt, has gone unbeaten this season and hopes to keep it up. According to Joe Schmidt, the team’s goal of combining “continuity and freshness” has already paid dividends in the tests against Wales.
