Sanwo-Olu Announces 25% Price Cut for Ounje Eko Market

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has ordered a 25% price reduction at the Sunday market, Ounjè Eko, to reopen on Sunday.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, revealed this to the media in Lagos on Wednesday, and his counterpart for Agric and Food Systems, Abisola Olusanya, did the same, according to a post on X.

“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered that Ounjè Eko, the Sunday market, which offers a 25% price reduction, shall reopen on Sunday.

The markets, which gave Lagos residents a 25% discount on staple foods such rice, beans, gari, bread, eggs, tomatoes, and pepper, first opened in March and closed a few weeks later.

There are now 27 markets operational in Ikeja, 6 on Lagos Island, 9 in Ikorodu, 5 in Epe, and 10 in the Badagry divisions.
