Rema Reacts To Being Paid $3 Million At Indian Billionaire’s Wedding

Rema, an Afrobeats musician, has responded to accusations that he was paid $3 million to perform at the wedding of Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani’s son, Anant Ambani, and Radhika Merchant, the daughter of pharmaceutical tycoons Viren and Shaila Merchant.
According to Naija News, Rema made news when he performed at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding on July 12 at the Jio World Centre in Bandra Kurla Centre (BKC), Mumbai.
According to Hindustan Times, the musician received $3 million for performing his global hit song ‘Calm Down’ during the event.

Rema was asked about his salary during a recent interview with GRM.

The interviewer inquired: “Is it true you got paid $3million for Ambani’s Wedding in India?”

Rema: Hehehe. That is all I can say. Money-wise, but generally, it was excellent treatment. It was beautiful.

“I love India. India also loves me. And it’s really amazing to see something that people have mocked and criticised me for. And now I’m benefiting from it.

“Imagine if I stopped. Imagine if I truly listened to the trolls online and changed my tone.

The interviewer asked, “Is it true you were paid $3 million for Ambani’s wedding in India?”Years later, it paid off and continues to do so, with more to come. India is a vast territory. I am actually the first afrobeats artist to tour India. If I am not mistaken, I am most likely the first African, but please excuse me if I am. But it’s a big thing.

It’s not only about the wedding. It’s about the reception wherever I go. I recall touring India and having no idea how they knew. When I go somewhere just to eat, it’s all paparazzi. It’s crazier than love in Nigeria.
