Queen Camilla Cancels Events Due to Pneumonia Attack
Queen Camilla, King Charles III’s wife, had to cancel numerous events due to an attack of pneumonia, she told visitors at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, according to UK media.
The 77-year-old made the remarks during a reception honoring Qatar’s emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, during his state visit.
Camilla missed last month’s Remembrance Day commemorations owing to a chest ailment.
She returned to work on November 12, but has decided to forego the outdoor activities scheduled for the two-day Qatari state visit, which begins on Tuesday, due to post-infection exhaustion.
“She has stopped coughing, but she still experiences bouts of extreme tiredness,” a royal source told the local Press Association.
This is the family’s latest health crisis.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, has just recently returned to public life after completing a round of chemotherapy, having publicized her cancer diagnosis in March.
The unexpected declaration came after the palace informed the previous month that Charles had been diagnosed with an undisclosed cancer and would be withdrawing from public life to receive treatment.
Both have now made modest returns to public service, although Charles, who recently toured Australia and Samoa, is still receiving therapy.
