PSG loses to Lyon at home, taking another hit

Paris Saint-Germain lost at home for the second time in a row on Sunday, losing 1-0 to Lyon, cutting their advantage atop Ligue 1 to six points.
Bradley Barcola of Lyon handed PSG their most recent defeat at the Parc des Princes, two weeks after they lost 2-0 to Rennes at home.

Barcola’s goal made up for Alexandre Lacazette’s missed penalty in the first half after he had replaced the injured Amin Sarr.

The Parisians have now lost five times in Ligue 1 this year, all of them in 2023, and Christophe Galtier’s team now only has a six-point lead over Lens in second place and Marseille at third.

Lyon, coached by former PSG boss Laurent Blanc, now move up to ninth place.

Danilo, a midfielder for PSG, stated that the team had entered “a difficult phase” that they needed to escape because their competitors were closing in.

“We must become awake. There are still many matches to be played, therefore the title is not at all certain “On Prime Video, he stated.

There are many things that need to change, in addition to mindset, but I can’t decide what.

With Neymar recovering from an ankle surgery and their defense being completely destroyed, PSG has been seriously hindered by injuries.

In contrast to his past victories over Strasbourg and Brest, Kylian Mbappe was unable to score any last-second goals.

The following 11 minutes of the second half saw goals from 18-year-olds Youssouf Fofana, Eliesse Ben Seghir, and Edan Diop give Monaco a 4-2 advantage.

The stoppage-time strike by Habib Diallo was merely Strasbourg’s solace.

Monaco is only three points behind third-placed Marseille, who was beaten to a 1-1 draw by Montpellier on Friday, with 57 points.

We witnessed two faces of Monaco tonight, Philippe Clement, the coach of Monaco, stated.

“We got off to a good start, and we held up for 25 minutes. Yet after that, Strasbourg rallied back and scored twice as the aggression subsided. I was furious at the half. My team did not come to mind.”
