Ondo Magistrate Court Remands Man For Sexual Assault On 11-Year-Old Daughter

An Ondo State Magistrate Court in Akure, the state capital, has ordered Moses Udoh, a 38-year-old worker, to be held at the Olokuta Correctional Centre for allegedly sexually assaulting his 11-year-old daughter.

Udoh was charged with two counts of indecent sexual assault on a juvenile and threat to life.

Inspector Taiwo Oniyere, the police prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant committed the offence on November 26, 2024, at 10.20 p.m., at his apartment on No. 20 Igboniki Street in Akure.

According to Oniyere, Udoh has repeatedly forced sexual intercourse with his 11-year-old biological daughter, injuring her.

The prosecutor disclosed that the defendant threatened to kill the victim if she told anybody about his crimes.

The woman described her trauma, revealing that her father, Udoh, had frequently had sexual intercourse with her in his chamber and would usually threaten to kill her if she told anyone.

According to her, “My father has been forcefully having sexual intercourse with me through my front and back.”

He started it when I was ten years old, and I can’t tell you how many times he’s done it since.

“Whenever my father slept with me at night, he turned up the volume on his MP 3 radio so that my voice could not be heard by the neighbors.

“He told me not to tell our neighbours about it and threatened to murder both me and the individual.

“When I noticed that blood was coming out of my anus, which is now causing discomfort for me, I decided to tell his sister,” the victim’s story goes.

The offense committed by Udoh violates Sections 25(a) and 86(2) of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of 2021.

Oniyere urged the court to confine the defendant to the detention institution for legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Magistrate Temilola Olusola-Olujobi ruled that the defendant would be held at Akure’s Olokuta Correctional Centre.

However, due to the victim’s age, the Magistrate ruled that the matter be transferred to Family Court and adjourned for trial on December 10, 2024.
