Ohanaeze Ndigbo Calls for Arrest of Threatening Woman

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the leading Igbo socio-cultural organization, has criticized a video clip in which a woman from Canada, Amaka Patience Sunnberger, threatens to murder persons of Yoruba and Benin heritage.
In the video, the woman, speaking in Pidgin English, says, “Record me very carefully; it’s time to start poisoning the Yoruba and Benin. Put poison in all of your food at work. Put poison in your water, and you will all die one by one.
In response, the group encouraged authorities to track down those responsible for the video and hold them accountable under the law.

Speaking in a statement on Wednesday, the group’s National Publicity Secretary, Alex Ogbonnia, stated that the issues raised about the video required a reaction.

He argued that there was no proof to prove that the woman in the video was Igbo.

Ogbonnia contended that the woman in question has not demonstrated any characteristics that would suggest that she is Igbo.
The organization reminded the younger generation of the many similarities between the Igbo, Edo, and Yoruba, such as cultural affinity, cosmology, morphology, and hospitality.

He stated, “It is necessary for Ohanaeze to reply, especially because Mr Jare Ajayi, the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, forwarded the film and asked swift action.

“Firstly, there is insufficient evidence that the lady in question is Igbo. Her actions do not reflect the Igbo characteristics of contemplation, prudence, self-control, and tranquility.

No Igbo person would consider hurling stones in a crowded market out of concern for who might be hurt.

“In other words, the Igbo travel farther than any other African ethnic group. “They create homes away from home wherever they are, integrate with the local community, and contribute to the development of their surroundings.”Ohanaeze takes advantage of this occasion to educate younger generations about the many commonalities between the Igbo, Edo, and Yoruba. We share cultural similarities, cosmology, morphology, and hospitality. The long-standing intermarriages between the Igbo, Yoruba, and Edo have resulted in distinguished great-grandchildren.”
