Ogun Govt Allocates ₦2.4B for Legislators’ SUVs & ₦19B for Contingencies

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun is rumored to be planning to spend ₦2.4 billion on 25 Toyota sport utility vehicles for state House of Assembly members.
SaharaReporters obtained a copy of the state’s approved 2024 budget, which included this information.
On December 30, 2023, the governor gave his consent to the ₦703 billion 2024 Appropriations Bill.

Referred to as the “Budget of Sustained Growth and Development,” the governor asserted that ₦287.37 billion was allocated for recurring expenses and ₦415.66 billion for capital expenditures.

The state House of Assembly approved ₦2,177,700,000 in that budget breakdown for the purchase of “25 NO OF TOYOTA PRADO VX, AUTO, LEATHER SEAT, HIGH GRADE.”

Additionally, ₦161,772,000.00 was set aside for the purchase of a single Toyota LC3003.5L twin-turbocharged vehicle for the House speaker.
Additionally, the budget disclosed that ₦143,106,000.00 was designated for the state assembly to purchase a single Toyota LC300GX, 4.0L.

A total of ₦18,971,887,528.84 was set aside under the “Office of the Governor” for the purpose of providing contingencies to handle unforeseen events.
