Musk moves SpaceX and X’s headquarters to Texas

Billionaire Elon Musk disclosed his intentions to relocate the social media startup X and SpaceX’s headquarters from California to Texas.

He announced that X will move from San Francisco to Austin and SpaceX will move from Hawthorne to Starbase in Texas.

The “final straw” was the new law signed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday, which forbids school districts from requiring staff to notify parents about their child’s gender identity change.

Around one year ago, “I clearly informed Governor Newsom that laws like this would cause families and businesses to move out of California to ensure their children’s safety,” Musk said.

Musk declared that he had relocated from California to Texas, where there is no personal income tax.

With Musk leading the company, Tesla moved its corporate headquarters from Palo Alto, California, to Austin in 2021.

SpaceX builds and launches their enormous Starship rockets at a location known as Starbase near the Mexican border in Boca Chica Beach, Texas, in the southernmost part of the state.

The business also launches its smaller Falcon 9 rockets from Southern California and Cape Canaveral, Florida.
