In Taraba, troops killed a wanted terrorist

Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) killed a wanted terrorist in Taraba State.

According to a statement released by the acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, Captain Oni Olubodunde, the action took place on July 29 along Gbeji-Afia, a border hamlet in Benue State’s Ukum Local Government Area.

He claimed that the operation was part of the brigade’s concerted efforts to remove terrorist hideouts and safeguard Taraba State people’ safety and security.

“The troops while on a fighting patrol came in contact with the armed Terrorists on a motorcycle,” according to the statement.

“Our gallant troops immediately engaged the terrorists in a fierce exchange of gunfire leading to the neutralization of 1 terrorist while others escaped into the bush with gunshot wounds.”
One A-K 47 rifle and magazine, seven rounds of 7.62MM special ammunition, two mobile phones, and a variety of charms were discovered.

The military identified the neutralised person as Odumegu, Full-Fire’s second-in-command, a commander of a prominent terrorist organization operating in Taraba and Benue States who had been on security services’ wanted list.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, praised the valiant troops for their steadfast dedication and commitment to duty, and reaffirmed the Brigade’s determination to maintain the momentum until all terrorist sanctuaries in Taraba State and beyond are eliminated.

The Commander thanked the local populations for their support and cooperation, emphasizing that the battle against terrorism is a team effort.
He advised the public to be watchful and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security agency.
