#EndBadGovernance Protest in Zamfara: Protesters Wave Russian Flag

As the #EndBadGovernance protests approach their fifth day, some Zamfara protestors were photographed flying the Russian flag on Monday in Gusau, the state capital.

The demonstrators who gathered on Monday lamented the North-Western state’s security problems.

They expressed disappointment that the administration has not taken real actions to solve the issue, vowing to continue the demonstration until the government does so.

According to the demonstrators, robbers levied high taxes on them in order to escape attacks and get access to their farmlands, and they want the government to take appropriate action to safeguard the people from the bandits’ operations.

The protesters, mostly children and youths, marched through Gusau, stopping at Tundunwada, Freedom Square, Government House, and Gada Biyu, among other places.
Meanwhile, security services, including Nigerian Police officers, and the military are constantly watching the demonstrators to maintain peace and order.

The mansion of the immediate previous governor of Zamfara State and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, is currently guarded by heavy security personnel, including Nigerian soldiers, Nigerian police, and the Department of State Service (DSS).

It should be noted that the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress accused the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of funding demonstrators who attacked Matawalle’s home.
