Eight Kwara Ministry Staff Arrested for Alleged Theft

Yusuf Abdulwasiu, a 46-year-old security officer, and Aro, a plumber from the Kwara State Ministry of Water Resources, have been nabbed for allegedly stealing water treatment chemicals.
Along with the aforementioned, six other individuals, including Abdulrasheed Salawudeen, Taiye Issa, Olarewaju Yusuf, Toyin Kazeem, and AbdulKadri Issa Olayiwola, who is believed to be the mastermind and receiver of the stolen items, are currently in custody under the supervision of the state police command.

According to Naija News, the suspects were apprehended about 11:30 p.m. on June 4, 2024, after a routine patrol near the ministry’s entrance discovered suspicious activity with a commercial shuttle bus bearing the registration number ABA804YG.

The command’s anti-kidnapping unit apprehended the bus, which was discovered to be carrying water treatment chemicals after the driver attempted to flee arrest.

According to sources, Aro, the ministry’s plumber, is accused of duplicating the key to the storage facility to aid the heist.

During the inquiry, detectives revealed that the thieves had already stolen 50 bags of chemicals before being apprehended on their third trip.

Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, Public Relations Officer for the state police command, verified the event on Friday.

According to her, “Some suspects are being held in relation to the stolen water treatment chemicals.

“25 bags of the things were retrieved from them at the time of the arrest. The command is currently looking for more suspects in the alleged theft.
