Davido On the 2023 Presidential Candidate He Backed

David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is a Nigerian Afrobeats musician who recently admitted he didn’t back any particular candidate in the recently held presidential election.

The “If” singer reportedly revealed this in an interview with the British television network Channel 4 News in London, according to Naija News.

The musician shrugged at the issue when asked which presidential candidate he backed during the election, responding that he supported himself.

I’m a leader myself, he declared.

Davido stated it is a difficult time for Nigerians, despite the fact that he is pleased that his fourth studio album, “Timeless,” was favorably received by a large number of listeners.

According to him, the album was also a relief from the tough times he was having personally and politically, stressing that everyone knows he has always been vocal about politics.

Undoubtedly [the record has been a relief], he declared. The difficulty of the elections is clear to see.

For Nigerians, it was a difficult time for all of us. I’m glad the record I dropped was well received. I am aware of the hardships that many people in the nation are still experiencing, and everyone is aware of my history of political activism.

Davido responded that he does not hold it against Afrobeats artists that avoid discussing politics because everyone has their own personal beliefs.

He noted that for those who don’t talk about politics, it’s obvious where they stand, adding he will always pray for the future of Nigeria, peace and transparency in government, and better leaders.
