Dangote Urges Representatives to Investigate Petrol & Diesel Quality

The President of the Dangote Group has urged the House of Representatives to probe the quality of diesel and gasoline at gas stations.

Dangote made the call on Saturday after receiving House leadership from Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and his deputy Benjamin Kalu.

To conduct the probe, he asked the House to form a committee to test items at various filling stations across the country.

Describing the damage caused to automobiles and engines by poor items, he further requested that the House check the quality of laboratories used to test imported products and compare it to that at the Dangote Refinery.

He informed the MPs, who had previously toured the refinery, that he was also open to independent testing of his refinery’s products, which would only confirm to their quality while revealing the issue with some of the items sold by other participants in the industry.
Dangote Refinery management has recently complained about what they believe to be an attempt by international oil firms (IOCs) to destroy the refinery. It has also condemned what it claims is the importation of substandard goods.

In turn, the refinery has been accused of advocating for a monopoly.

Dangote, on the other hand, denied the monopoly claims, stating that the Dangote Group received no special incentives when the refinery was being developed.

He also stated that there was no attempt to restrict other players from operating.
