Cuba now participates in South Africa’s ICJ lawsuit against Israel for its activities in Gaza

Cuba declared its intention to take part in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) case brought by South Africa concerning Israel’s conduct in the Gaza Strip. Cuba’s involvement in the case was confirmed in a statement made by the ministry on Friday.

According to the statement, the main goal of the action is to “stop the atrocities against the Palestinian people as a result of Israel’s disproportionate and indiscriminate use of force.”

South Africa filed a lawsuit against Israel before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on December 29, 2023, claiming that Israel had violated the 1948 Genocide Convention in respect to the Palestinians living in Gaza. Other nations, including Chile and Spain, have joined the lawsuit against Israel, following the pattern set by South Africa.
