Champion of the Tour de France Vingegaard extends the Jumbo-Visma contract until 2027
Jonas Vingegaard, the winner of the Tour de France, has renewed his contract with Jumbo-Visma through 2027, the Dutch cycling team said on Tuesday.
After a titanic struggle, the 26-year-old Dane, who had finished second to the Slovenian the season before, pushed over Tadej Pogacar to win the Tour de France crown in 2022.
Vingegaard, a previous employee of a fish industry, expressed excitement about continuing to develop inside the group.
“It was an amazing experience to be standing atop the platform.
“I want to try for a lot more victories. not only in upcoming races but also in the Tour.”
Along with cyclists like Primoz Roglic and Wout van Aert, he joined in 2019 and has since played a significant role in helping Jumbo become cycling’s most potent squad.
When the Tour de France began with three days in the Scandinavian nation last July, Vingegaard was the talk of the country.
Along every meter of the initial individual time trial around Copenhagen, the Danes cheered him on.
When he returned from France with the storied yellow jersey, they organized an even larger celebration in the heart of Copenhagen.
Vingegaard, according to Richard Plugge, the general manager of the Jumbos, is the foundation of the team’s near future.
“Jonas is a great fit for us; he pushes us forward as a team, is eager to learn, and is simple to coach.
“When he first joined the team, he was a rough diamond. Together, we made considerable progress and eventually won the Tour de France.
If we want to stay at the top, Jonas is crucial to our objectives.
