After Tottenham’s elimination, Conte acknowledges his “passionate” supporters

Upon his resignation from the Premier League team, Antonio Conte thanked the supporters of Tottenham Hotspur as well as everyone at the club who shared his “passion.”

Following 16 months in command of the north London team, the Italian resigned “by mutual agreement” from his job as Spurs manager on Sunday.

After Tottenham blew a 3-1 lead and the game ended in a 3-3 draw at Southampton on March 18, Conte’s exit followed, in which he attacked the Spurs players as “selfish” and incapable of performing under pressure.

Football is a passion, as 53-year-old Conte said on Instagram on Monday. I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone at Spurs who understood and supported my passion and my passionate approach to coaching football.

Yet on Sunday, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said: “We must all work together. To secure the best result for our team and fantastic, devoted fans, everyone must stand up.”

Following the club’s fourth manager change in as many seasons, the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust encouraged the board to be open and clear about their plan.

According to a statement from the Supporters’ Trust, “Spurs fans will not be surprised by this departure.

“The club’s board must now have a specific plan for what and who will happen after this, and it must communicate this plan to the club’s followers. Fans deserve it because THST has continuously called for it.”
