A Florida man was arrested after making threats against Biden

A Florida man has been detained for making threats against US President Joe Biden, just days after an attempted assassination of his Republican challenger Donald Trump.

The US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida said that Jason Patrick Alday, 39, was detained on Monday.

Alday, of Quincy, Florida, reportedly “engaged in sending threatening communications, making threats against President Joe Biden and other federal officials,” according to a release from the agency on Wednesday.

According to the criminal complaint, Alday made threatening remarks about Biden while being admitted to a mental health facility in Tallahassee, Florida, last month.

He allegedly issued additional threats in posts on X.

Alday has been ordered imprisoned until trial.

A gunman opened fire on Trump, 78, during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, wounding him in the ear.

A rally goer was slain. The 20-year-old gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by Secret Service snipers.
