Fake Pastors Arrested in Rivers: A Shocking Revelation

On Thursday, the Rivers State Police Command paraded two people accused of being fake pastors after they were seized by youths from the Rumunduru village in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Umoren Bassey and Elijah Aniete were arrested by Henry Worlu, Rumunduru’s Youth President, on January 20, 2005, and turned over to the police.

According to Rivers State Police spokesperson SP Grace Iringe Koko, the teenagers claimed to have witnessed the males indulging in suspicious behavior and reported it to the authorities.

SP Koko revealed that the suspects were found to have a cartridge, a sword, a false navy passport, numerous images of persons, a child’s shoe, a police lanyard, multiple crosses, and various spiritual materials.

However, she added that no live pythons or human skulls were discovered, as some original reports stated.

During an interview, Umoren Bassey, a suspect who claimed to be the leader of the Church of God Apostolic Deliverance in Eneka, Rumunduru, defended his actions.

“I use spiritual materials in the way God has directed me,” he explained. “I can heal individuals using water and oil. I have been here for a long time. It’s a land dispute, and I still had three weeks before a court ordered me to go.
The community planted some of the things they claimed to have discovered at my church. “They even searched my home without a warrant.”

In an interview, Rumunduru’s Youth President, Henry Worlu, revealed that the OSPAC commander had informed him of Bassey’s purported sacrifices on the road.

“In the morning, we visited his church. He denied any culpability and refused to allow us in. “We eventually forced our way into his chambers and discovered the items,” Worlu said.

“However, we found no pythons or human remains. Nobody assaulted him. We simply turned him over to the cops.”

The OSPAC commander, who witnessed the events, stated that the matter was handled amicably, with the suspects delivered to police without incident.
