Trump at Davos: Oil Cuts Could Resolve Ukraine Conflict

During his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Thursday, President Donald Trump revealed his desire to persuade the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and its principal member, Saudi Arabia, to cut crude oil prices.

“I’m also going to ask Saudi Arabia and OPEC to lower the cost of oil. You’ve got to take it down, which I’m amazed they didn’t do before the election. They didn’t show much affection by not doing it. I was astonished by that. If the price fell, the Russia-Ukraine conflict would end instantly.

Right now, the cost is great enough that the battle will continue. You have to get the oil price down. “You’re going to end the war.”

Trump’s comments on oil prices came after his chat with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday.

According to Saudi state media, Bin Salman plans to invest up to $600 billion in the United States over the next four years.

Despite the pleasant chat, Trump stated that he would ask the Crown Prince to raise the sum to around $1 trillion.
