CAF Confirms Super Eagles vs Libya Match Postponement

The Confederation of African Football has declared that the Super Eagles’ second leg of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 qualifier against Libya, which was planned for Tuesday, would be cancelled.

This comes after Nigerian fans boycotted the game in protest of what they regarded as cruel treatment in the North African country.

“The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 qualifier between Libya and Nigeria will not go forward as planned tonight. The matter will be reported to the appropriate CAF committees,” said a short statement from the CAF on Tuesday.

CAF announced on Monday that it had initiated an investigation into the event following the Libya Football Federation’s allegations of sabotage and threat of legal action against Nigeria.
On Monday night, the LFF issued a statement condemning Nigeria’s decision to withdraw from the game.

The LFF accused the Nigerian Football Federation of failing to cooperate in organising the game.

The Super Eagles raised safety concerns after being detained at Al Abraq Airport for more than 13 hours on Sunday.
