Wizkid on Puma’s Choice: Why Davido Got the Deal
Nigerian hip hop sensation Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, well known as Wizkid, has stated that the Puma ambassador agreement received by his rival, David Adeleke, also known as #Davido, meant nothing to him.
Lagmen Net reported on a series of tweets by #Wizkid in a battle for supremacy with #Davido. On Wednesday, #Davido also announced his new ambassadorship arrangement with the world-renowned brand Puma.
Following the internet argument between the two celebrities, an X user named Nelson Epega accused #Wizkid of being unhappy and jealous of #Davido’s new Puma deal.
Wizkid responded on his X handle by blasting @Nelson Epega’s video. He claimed that Puma settled for a cheap ambassador. He explained that Puma proposed the transaction to him first, but he declined because the corporation could not pay him.
Wizkid wrote, “You idiot!” I passed down Puma because they could no longer afford to pay me, and I wanted more! I don’t need that! Way bigger than every artist you’ve mentioned! Not jealous! I love them all. With your dirty ass shirt! Idiot!
“No! Puma is a huge brand! But the budget they had for Africa didn’t include me! Was cool for your client, though!”
According to Wizkid, he made his money by composing and singing his own songs and should not be compared to Davido, whom he stated lacked talent.
