Dangote Refinery Starts Petrol Production, Targets Exports

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos State has declared that it would begin producing petrol.
The start of production was declared on Monday by Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited, during the Brekete Family show.
He added that petrol manufacturing began on Sunday.

Edwin stated that if traders in the country or the Nigerian National Petrol Company Limited (NNPCL) do not purchase petrol from Dangote Refinery, the company will be forced to export the commodity.

He said that there has been a roadblock in moving the country’s products such as diesel and aviation fuel within the country, and if this continues with petrol, they will be left with no other option. but to export the product.

He stated, “We have been exporting aviation fuel, generating kerosene, and making diesel, but we only started producing PMS yesterday. So that was the final stage. Petrochemicals are now the only item left out.
So, excellent news for the country: we started generating PMS from our refinery yesterday (Sunday).

“Well, I mentioned how there has been a sort of blockage on lifting our products within the country. The traders have attempted to prevent (it), thus we are now exporting our petroleum products. PMS, we are prepared to contribute as much as possible to the country.

“But if the traders or NNPC are not buying the product, obviously, we will end up exporting the PMS as we are doing with the aviation jet and diesel.”
