Polish Nationals Released After Kano State Protest Arrests

According to current reports, the Polish students and teacher imprisoned in Kano State during the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria demonstration have been released.
The seven Polish nationals were arrested during a protest against bad governance in Kano State, which turned violent.
The trio was arrested on August 6 after allegedly flying Russian flags at the #EndBadGovernance rally in Kano.

Radoslaw Sikorski, Poland’s Foreign Minister, announced their release on Wednesday via his X account, confirming that the Polish kids and teacher had been liberated.

The persons in question are African Studies students at Warsaw University’s Oriental Studies Faculty.

They came in Nigeria from Poland on August 1 and planned to return in early September.
Polish officials criticized the arrests, claiming that the children and teacher were at the wrong place at the wrong time. They highlighted that the delegation was visiting Nigeria for scholarly reasons.

Following their release, Sikorski stated that the group would shortly return to Poland.

He added, “I’d like to certify that the young folks are already free, back in Kano, on campus, with passports.

“I believe the young people had an accelerated lesson in African studies. I hope they return to the nation soon.
