Victor Osimhen Dropped From Napoli’s Coppa Italia Squad

Victor Osimhen, a Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, will be absent from Napoli’s Coppa Italia first-round match against Modena at 8:15 p.m. on August 10.

Victor Osimhen’s future at Napoli is unknown due to heavy transfer speculation. Despite earning £325,000 per week at Napoli, Osimhen has been following an individual training regimen at the club’s sports center and has not taken part in any pre-season friendly this summer.
In December, Osimhen signed a new deal with Napoli, which included a €130 million release clause.

However, none of his suitors are ready to invoke this provision. Paris Saint-Germain, one of Osimhen’s serious suitors, is yet to make an offer worth more than €100 million for the 25-year-old Nigeria international.

Chelsea attempted to include Osimhen in a deal for Romelu Lukaku, but the Nigerian striker turned down a loan transfer to Stamford Bridge. Osimhen also refuses to take a pay cut to join Chelsea.

This has left Osimhen with little choices. According to sources in Italy, he is awaiting a new offer from PSG or a serious proposal from Saudi Arabia.

Remember that Victor Osimhen signed for Napoli from Lille in 2020 for a club record sum of more than €70 million. Since then, he has been the club’s talisman. His contract with the Italian side will expire on June 30, 2026.
