NNPC CEO: Oil Industry Crisis, Mele Kyari Denies Theft Claims
Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum corporate (NNPC) Limited, claims that corporate workers have nothing to do with the country’s inferior petroleum product imports.
He testified in Abuja on Wednesday before an Ad-hoc Committee chaired by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele regarding suspected economic sabotage in the petroleum industry.
Kyari stated that as the company’s GCEO, he has suffered unfair media attacks from people who are trying all possible to give the appearance that NNPCL is undermining the nation’s economy.
According to him, the corporation is “faithful and will not lie” to the government.
He responded, “We are not criminals or thieves. We shall maintain our dignity so that we can serve our country.”
He went on to say that the oil and gas business is bleeding and that there are things he knows but cannot discuss in public until “the time comes.”
He requested that future committee hearings be televised live so that all Nigerians may watch.
