Breaking: Shamang, a former president of the NLC, was abducted in Kaduna

Takai Shamang, the former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), is said to have been abducted.
Shamag was allegedly taken from his hometown of Biniki, which is situated in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna state. Shamag also held the position of President General of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers, which is currently known as the National Union of Electricity Employees, from 1982 to 1989.
According to Naija News, 78-year-old Shamang was also the founder and president of the Gantys Aid for Widows, Orphans and Needy Foundation, or GAWON Foundation.

Over the weekend, his daughter Grace Abbin gave journalists confirmation of the occurrence.

She stated that at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Friday, her father, who is 78 years old, was abducted from his Biniki house.

She mentioned that the attackers broke into her father’s house and seized him with force.

She stated that investigations were being conducted by Kaduna State authorities into the event, and steps were being taken to ensure his release.

The family, friends, and well-wishers of Comrade Shamang are still holding out hope for a successful outcome and his safe return home, she told Daily Trust. “The community and family members are appealing to the public for any information that could aid in his safe return.”

Reportedly a highly esteemed individual in the community, Comrade Shamang is renowned for his vast charitable endeavors and unwavering commitment to the Labour Congress.

The Nigerian Police Force’s Kaduna State Command, however, has not yet released an official statement on the incident.
